Full course description

This micro-credential explores four case studies that build upon project management concepts introduced in Nuclear Project Management 1 and Nuclear Project Management 2, drawing on examples from both Canadian and international contexts. Through expert-led interviews, learners deepen their understanding of Canada’s nuclear history and apply key principles of nuclear project management. The course examines nuclear plant modifications at Canadian generating stations to analyze strengths and weaknesses, identify critical paths, and develop lessons learned. Participants also explore project management approaches used in Canadian nuclear plant construction along with those employed in China and other countries. In addition, the influence of culture on project management practices is examined. The course further investigates why nuclear projects often experience delays and cost overruns compared to other infrastructure projects and analyzes strategies to improve schedule and budget performance. The course concludes with a summative assessment that draws on the case studies explored throughout the course.

This micro-credential is supported by a facilitator who is available to answer learner inquiries and provide feedback on assessments.

Participants will receive a Level 1 micro-credential badge upon successful completion of this micro-credential. Participants may receive a Level 2 micro-credential badge upon completion of all three (3) micro-credential courses within the Nuclear Project Management Micro-credential program.
