UAV Mapping for Applied Scene and Site Documentation

This hybrid micro-credential introduces learners to the practical use of Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS), commonly referred to as UAVs or drones, for professional scene and site documentation. Through self-paced online learning and a full day of hands-on flight training, learners develop the knowledge and practical skills to safely plan and conduct RPAS documentation missions. This course is intended for forensic investigators and other professionals involved in scene or site documentation, as well as those using or considering the use of RPAS for mapping, inspection, or documentation in their field. Learners develop the knowledge and practical skills to complete pre-flight preparation, mission planning, safe RPAS flight operations, and image capture for 2D photomapping and 3D digital modelling. The course concludes with a scenario-based practical field assessment that demonstrates competency in planning, flying, and documenting an RPAS mission.
